Australia - Blue Mountains and north

Lake Lyell was a pretty leisure lake, not too far north west of Sydney

Lake Liddell was a quiet beautiful spot

Well, unless the quarry trains were passing.  Still worth a visit

Once everyone had taken their powerboats and waterskis home, it was a lovely place to chill
As usual, it was well used by the Aussies

We arrived in the Blue Mountains, which were every bit as good as they promised..

This is Jamieson Valley, in the Blue Mountains.  There is a similar canyon an hour north of this that's only beaten in size by the Grand Canyon, California

How silly of us to go to Victoria Falls Lookout and expect to see Victoria Falls...

We took a walk along the cliff top to begin with...

You could walk, climb or take the cable car

We walked it along the cliff edge

Where the views were spectacular.  In the distance you can see the 'Three Sisters'

They're called the Blue Mountains due to the blue haze given off by the numerous eucalyptus trees that are present

The birds are every bit as colourful as the others we've seen here.  This stopped for a pose

The Three Sisters

Once we'd reached the 'Three Sisters', we trekked down the extremely steep, 'Giant Stairway'.  It was very steep and very long, so aptley named

It was much nicer on the valley floor, away from the tourist crowds above

We got to the cliffs on the other side

Where the waterfalls were plentiful.  You can see people here going through them

And this shot further away shows how high up they actually are

We looked back over some of what we'd just walked, wow!

And saw this rainbow as we climbed up the cliff stairway

Another day we went to Wentworth Falls

Where again, we weren't disappointed...

And I braved the heights for this photo

And relaxed in the sun for this one

Most of this area was protected, so we couldn't walk through it, but the views across were amazing
